La Chauvarie is an old stone farmhouse from ‘La Belle Epoch’. Originally producing wine, following the phylloxera disaster, the whole region moved to growing walnuts. An ancient vine still produces huge volumes of grapes annually and we have begun producing small quantities of wine once more. La Chauvarie also specialised in asparagus.
For many years the farm supported a local family, but time moves on, and the farm buildings had been disused for some years before we purchased and renovated the property. The work was a labour of love and a real change from our past life experience. Now, La Chauvarie is a much loved family home and a holiday location for many visitors throughout the year. There is more work to do, any volunteers will be seriously considered !
